With my first experience with Geary, I was able to understand his points and it was nice having a video to interact with so I could understand what he was talking about as he was discussing the topics at hand. The best example of this was when he discussed color hearing. When I read it on paper of what color hearing was, it didn’t make much sense to me until I saw the examples in the video that Geary was talking about. However, since it was a video, it was quick moving, and I would miss points Geary was trying to maker I wouldn’t understand them fully. An example of this was when Geary discussed metaphor misleads and consequences. Geary spoke of many examples like the historical analogies of World War 2 and Vietnam. There was so much happening in only one minute of video that when I read it, it made more sense because I could slow down and understand the topic at hand. Something that stood out to me in my “conversation” with Geary was how people cannot ignore the metaphorical meaning of words. One example he used was how “jobs are sometimes jails.” Even though it’s literally false, it’s metaphorically true. It’s mind-blowing to me that metaphors have changed the English language to the point that people have a hard time deciphering literally false meanings from metaphors.

First of all, I enjoyed learning all about you on your “About Me” page. I, also, spent my childhood summers living on a campground. My grandparents ran the place, but secretly, my three sisters and I believed the place was ours. 🙂 Your experiences in sports and otherwise should serve you well as you continue your education at UNE. Thanks for sharing!
Your annotations are off to a great start! Keep up the good work. I love that you find metaphor’s power over our thinking “mindblowing.”
