Blog #19

After scanning through the remaining chapters of “They Say / I Say,” I chose to read chapter , titled “So What? Who Cares?” This chapter talked about explaining to reader why the essay their writing is relevant. Yes, you can talk about all these things in an essay, but no one will care unless you tell them why to care. The example they used in the chapter is of body fat cells and how scientists used to think they are inert. They explained it as “who cares?” Then they gave another example where it quotes how body fat cells can lead to health risk. This would then mean people would care, especially when it talks about health. Essentially, I need to make sure that my essay has a reason that it’s being written, not just because it’s an English assignment and that I have to do it. This is where I believe this chapter could help me in my essay. So of course this a, “Your choice essay,” and, my problem was teen vaping. I am fully against teen vaping, and I have many reasons to be, but I need to explain to my reader why it’s such a problem. What I didn’t realize when I wrote my rough draft was that I. just jumped into relating art and science to stopping teen vaping. I am missing the “So what” part of this essay. I need to include more of this in the parts of my claim sentences, along with explaining more in my intro. I could even include a quote from the choice essay I selected. In my first draft, I neglected to due this, but after doing peer review as well, I feel I should include a few quotes in a part off my paper.
