My name is Stephen Sims and I am from a small town called Sprague, Connecticut, about 3 1/2 hours away from UNE. I have two brothers who are now both in high school. I attended Griswold High School where I excelled and school and was a three sport athlete in football, wrestling, and outdoor track. I came to UNE for many reasons. I love the campus and it’s by far the nicest school I looked at, it has my major I am interested in studying (Applied Mathematics), it’s a good distance from home, and I am part of the football team at UNE.
At home, I enjoyed spending time with friends and I loved camping. My family has a seasonal campsite on the water near my home, and for the last twelve years, I have spent my whole summers relaxing by the fire. I love kayaking or hiking through the woods. I enjoy swimming so much, and at the lake, my family had a floating dock that I would always be jumping off or relaxing on. My happy place is sitting on the dock on the water with a cup of coffee as I watch the sun come up. I also have two black Labrador Retrievers back at home who love the water. I would play with them by the lake as they would retrieve and stick I threw.

The activity I have always loved thew most is football. I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be a Nor’Easter football and it’s a great feeling to be able to continue my football career at the school. My number one priority at college is to receive an education, but I am very lucky to be able to continue what I love doing in college.
